I’ve waited several months to write this review because I wanted to ensure I wasn’t doing it out of anger.

I have had my hair cut at this location twice. Though I really appreciated the overall skill and craft in LuLu’s work, I did not appreciate her overall demeanor or the choice comments she made while cutting my hair. When I came in the first time, I figured her insult of my sideburns and dismissal of any attempt at conversation was the product of a bad day. At my second visit, a new round of condescending remarks helped me realize it was just overall bad service. Though I don’t expect absolute enthusiasm and joy to radiate from my stylist, I do expect to escape a haircut with at least my dignity. Is that so much to ask?

After reading some of the reviews, I feel my experience is not entirely uncommon and thus I thought it would be worth sharing.

Since then, I’ve found someone (elsewhere) who cuts my hair well and makes me feel welcome. I can thank Bishops for reminding me of how much that’s worth I suppose.

Lydia was so sweet and talented! I asked for some peak-a-boo hilights with light bangs and she delivered despite having to work with my previously black-dyed hair. Appreciative of her time and effort and as always grateful for the good energy and inclusive vibes at bishops. Before and after photos attached below 👇

One of the worst haircuts I’ve ever had in my life. Very uneven; I had to buy a pair of scissors to fix the cut at home. Also looked nothing like the picture I showed them.

Update! 8/25 Mercury listened to what I didn't like which was easier for me to explain then what I did 😅 and she cut my hair perfectly! She was easy to chat with and would definitely ask for again 🤩

Sophia was not only easy to communicate my needs to but did a great job! I love the cut and my hubby said the way the layers in the back fall is one of his favorites yet!

Been going here for a few years now and every cut and re-color has been absolutely perfect. I once switched to an entirely different hair color based on a purple t shirt I was wearing and Jessie did some color theory magic to nail it. I left with my hair and shirt perfectly matching. Idk how they do it but if you need vibrant colors done well, this is the place!

My 15 year old son saw Lulu 3 weeks ago. She did an amazing job! So my 9 year old got her hair by Lulu & loved it! So now my 14 year old is seeing her tomorrow. She’s easy to speak with, great stylist & a cute puppy that is a sweetie! We had to reschedule due to a stomach bug & she made it so easy. In a few weeks I’ll be going to her. We found our new family stylist! Go see Lulu!

It was going okay until I wanted to change the cut a little and i was told by a girl called Lulu that I should “listened when she asks questions next time,” this sass came from nowhere, I was like “ right sorry, maybe I explained it wrong” and she said “ Maybe just listen better, and now im 40 minutes over.” I was upset at this point and just wanted it to be over but she left to go yell at a young girl in the back room/closet and then came back with her finger bleeding saying “ its on the house because I’m bleeding and no one is helping me, sorry!”
?????? ripped the gown off me and stormed out of the building. how is this any sort of professional??

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I wanted to share my appreciation. On my day off, I decided to walk in for a quick cut, and Lulu got me booked right away. She even offered me a drink which, as a guy, I can’t say has happened at many barbershops.

Jessica was my stylist and gave me a perfect cut. Thank you both again and I’ll be back!

Today is 3/28 and this review is based on a men’s cut and gray blending that occurred in the afternoon of 3/10.

The Good:

Let me start off with the good before I get into why I gave it one star. First, I have curly hair and it’s tough to find someone who can cut it properly. But, my stylist/barber did a wonderful job on the cut. It’s the best I’ve had in quite some time. 10/10 on the cut. Had I just gotten a cut, then this would be a 5 star review.

Unfortunately, I also got my hair “gray blended.”

The Bad:

Ok, so this all has to do with a situation involving my hair getting the “Gray Blending” service which is supposed to be a $40 service and a very basic coloring just to get rid of some of my grays.

My experience soured at the register and then over the last few weeks since my gray blending occurred.

When I set my appointment online I specifically chose the men’s cut $33 and the Gray Blending $40. That’s a $77 total. Cool. Seems normal.

But, when I got to the register my total came out to around $129 (after tip it was about $153). I said, “Whoa” in astonishment. At which point the lady who rang me up said, “Oh your stylist didn’t do the gray blending she did a more permanent color. You shouldn’t see any gray again until your roots come in, if that makes sense.”

For those reading…no one told me that a more expensive service was being rendered. This was not at all discussed. A service was done that I hadn’t asked for and would not have asked for given the price. I’m just a regular dude, with regular hair length, who wants a regular gray blending, nothing fancy. Hell, I would’ve just done one of those box colorings if I knew I was going to get recked like this.

As you could imagine, I was not happy. BUT, in my head, I said “You know what, if this is going to last a long time like they say, maybe it will be ok and end up being something I enjoy.” Afterall, you pay for what you get, right? I was surely paying, so I hoped to get a lot of time with the color out of it.

Did I? You may ask.

Not at all.

In the first week, black color began leaving my head like I was a coal worker washing away a day in the mines. By week two almost all my grays were back as shown in the photos I posted. So, what exactly did I pay for?? Other than an absolute hair dye scam, no clue. Now my hair has this weird mix of colors that I can’t even describe. Overall, I’m super pissed about it all and want my money back. Swerve this place like a turtle shell in Mario Kart.

Edit: After my experience, I was contacted by a manager at Bishops. Her name was Lydia, and with incredible empathy and a genuine concern for what happened, she heard me out and made things right. She went above and beyond for me in how she handled the situation and turned my perception of the establishment around. I am grateful for that because the haircut I received there was the best I’ve had in YEARS and I wanted nothing more than to like the place. Her customer service was impeccable and gave me that reason to like it again and go back. After all, mistakes happen and nothing wrong with that as long as you do right in the end. They did just that so 10/10 would recommend.

This place is fine if you want a basic cut, but for anything more complicated I would highly recommend going somewhere else.

I went in to get my color redone, along with a cut and keratin treatment. They ended up charging me well over $100 above what I had been quoted. Now I understand that during an extended hair treatment some things can come up that can alter the price of the procedure, but $100 is frankly ridiculous. The company seems to know what they're doing too, as they had me sign a waiver essentially relinquishing them of any responsibility for overcharging me. Funnily enough they didn't even bother to fill in the part on the form where they're supposed to list the procedures being done or their costs. Just left that part blank.

So after sitting in a chair for well over 4 hours I was left with a color and style that were not at all like what I'd requested. And they didn't even bother to style it or finish drying it before asking me to pay them nearly $400. And to top it all off, when I got home I found a large bleach stain on the back of my sweater.

Let me say first that my haircut itself is perfect, literally never been more precisely what I wanted than what Angel shaped on my melon. Thank you for getting right what so many other stylists have fubbed. Separating the less than desirable conversation from this stylist from the remainder of the shop, I have to admit the shop feels dated, with faded cutouts of old celebrity magazine photos plastered over the entirety of the establishment it felt disorderly and messy. While the theme of this great celebrity hair illusion was consistent every stylist had their own personal station that held space for their personalities, which I think was great. I also think this personality is crucial to experience a comfortable hair salon, it just misses the mark to me because it felt like a barely held together theme of celebrity glam while promising personal attention to the details.
If you're comfortable shelling out to a good person for a good cut, go to Bishops you won't regret it. But if you desire something more sterile and cookie cutter you might think Bishops is not for you, but you'd be wrong. I highly suggest you take a minute with a good stylist at Bishops in their half put together studio because it will help you appreciate that not everything about community is perfectly quaffed, you might have an honest interaction with a decent person, and on top of that you'll leave with a damn good cut too.

I used to go to expensive salons until I found Bishops. Even when I get a random stylist, I'm happy with the results. I keep a simple short style and can reliably ask for a "clippers set to 2 around my ears, faded longer to a few inches on top ✂️." This works every time. Bishops also has a great crew and a friendly vibe. Good prices. Recommended 👍

This was my first time at a Bishops and honestly it was fantastic! (Though I may be biased since this will soon be my last name. 😂) Madison was so friendly and welcoming and fun to talk to. I felt comfortable expressing what I wanted and working with them to find what works best with my hair. I will definitely be coming back.

Kat K. did a really great job cutting my hair and then was able to get me in to color it the next day! I’ve never ever colored my hair at all, it is long and dark brown, and she did an amazing job highlighting it! I am super happy

In theory they do walk-ins but they've always been too busy for that when I checked. Very kind people who were understanding of some health issues I had that made it hard for me to shower. Got a nice wash, cut, and came back a while later for another wash! Affordable and you can make same-day appointments online if you aren't picky about which stylist you see.

I'm editing this because it is now days later and I'm still in love with my hair! I was rocking the same haircut for over a decade and switched it up BIG TIME this time and I don't think I've ever been so happy with a cut after leaving the salon before. Honestly, a millions stars for Kat!!
Original review:
Kat K is the literal best! Cut and color today and not only are the results a.m.a.z.i.n.g but the vibes were so fun and chill! Usually my haircuts leave me avoiding another one for years but I just saw Kat back in January for my first cut in 3 years and came back for a big change and she nailed it! Forever sticking with her for all my hair needs!

I’ve never had a regular barber until booking Ryan at Bishops in Orenco two years ago. I’ve been coming back twice a month ever since and have been super happy with my cut every time. I’d never left a haircut feeling as fresh as I do here. Ryan does exactly what I want and offers suggestions when I’m not sure. I had to give him a shoutout.. thanks for many great cuts and the confidence that comes with them Ryan!!

Just had a color appointment with Ivey K! She listened to what I was wanting, asked about the type of maintenance I was looking for after the coloring, she was honest and up front with pricing and trying to stay with in budget, she was soo kind and is a hair color master! I could not believe how my hair turned out... it was perfect! She is efficient and delivered on the results. She explained what we can do in the future and what to expect with my coloring as it grows out and is washed many times. She also made sure the maintenance to up keep was low for me since I'll be focusing on a new baby soon. I really really reccomend Ivey as a hair stylist! Thank you soo much!!! 💓

I love Bishops, this is such a cool location. Good vibes, music, service. Hair washing sink is surprisingly comfortable. Extra seating available for while you wait. The stations can get overstimulating for me with a full house but it just feels like a good group hangout.
I’ve been getting fantastic alternative cuts from Xavier! Hes amazing with a razor and shears, I’ve looked amazing the last few months! I can’t recommend Bishops or Xavier’s chair enough!!!

They are friendly there but they don’t give the best haircuts. I am super disappointed in the haircut I got after washing it when i got him & realizing how choppy and uneven it was. I can’t believe I paid for a haircut to look like this lol
When she had styled it it looked okay, it was a little shorter than I hoped but it was fine and when I got home I noticed how it really looked & people have even commented on how uneven and choppy it looks. Save your money and go elsewhere. Very disappointed, considering how much money they charge for a haircut, you should be able to get a decent looking haircut and this place did the opposite. I don’t recommend going here. 2 stars because they were kind but they need to focus on their hair cutting skills a lot more. Worst haircut I’ve ever gotten probably.

Bishops in Orenco Station is the only place I cut my hair. Everyone there is very friendly and professional. I always book with Ryan because ever since the first time he cut my hair, I've been in love with the magic he works! I've gone short with my hairstyle. I have a round face and I like wispy and textured short hairstyles, and every time, Ryan makes it look fantastic. My sister and I have been loyal clients for over five years, and we don’t mind the hour drive—it’s totally worth it. Last time I couldn't get an appointment because he was fully booked for the day, but while he was dyeing my sister's hair, he made time to cut mine while her color was setting. I wasn't expecting that and it was very kind and great (I was totally having a hair emergency). Ryan really listens, gives great advice, and ensures you walk out feeling and looking amazing every single time. He is very thorough. He also gives helpful tips on how to care for and style your hair at home and keep it looking great. After seeing the beautiful coloring he did on my sister's hair, I am tempted to dye mine too! This level of service reflects on the other hairstylists here too, who are equally amazing. Truly, the whole team is incredible. Can’t recommend them enough!

FAQ

Do I need an appointment?
Nope. We’re walk-in friendly at all locations, though some services (especially color) are easier to book in advance. Use the “Book Now” button to lock in your time if you’re on a schedule.

What kind of salon is Bishops?
We’re a hybrid between a barbershop and a salon—but with way better playlists. Think expert cuts, creative color, and an unpretentious, inclusive vibe. All ages. All hair types. All welcome.

Do you cut curly/textured hair?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our stylists are trained in curl-specific cutting and styling techniques. If you have a particular request, we recommend giving us a call, booking in advance, and leaving a note so we can match you with the right stylist that will get your cut just right.

Are your stylists licensed?
Yep. Every Bishops stylist is fully licensed by their state and regularly trained on current techniques, trends, and client care.

Do you sell hair products?
Yes—and we only stock what we actually use. Ask your stylist for recs based on your hair goals. No pressure, just solid advice.

What services do you offer?
We offer:

  • Haircuts (short, long, fades, buzz, shags, trims, and more)
  • Hair color (natural, fashion/vivid, bleach & tone, balayage)
  • À la carte options like beard trims, blowouts, shampoo & style
  • Kid cuts and first-time haircuts
  • Facial hair grooming and neck cleanups

Can I bring a picture of the look I want?
Definitely. Bring screenshots, inspo pics, or your Pinterest board. We’ll talk it through and help you get as close as possible based on your hair type and condition.

Do you do perms or relaxers?
Some locations and stylists do. Reach out to your local Bishops directly, or call ahead to check.

How long do services take?
Cuts usually take 30–45 minutes. Color services vary depending on complexity. For full bleach-outs or vivid transformations, plan for 2–3 hours or more. We’ll give you an estimate during your consultation.

Do you cut kids’ hair?
Absolutely. We love helping kids feel confident about their style. Our stylists are trained to work with all ages and make first-time cuts feel fun and low-stress.

How much is a haircut?
Pricing varies by shop and service. For the most accurate details, visit your local Bishops location page.

How much does color cost?
Every head of hair is different, and the cost depends on the look you’re going for—whether it’s a root touch-up, gloss, full bleach-and-tone, or balayage. That’s why we recommend starting with a FREE consultation. Our stylists will sit down with you, talk through your goals, review your hair’s history and condition, and create a custom plan just for you.

Do you charge by gender?
Never. Our pricing is based on time, technique, and length—not identity. Hair is hair.

Are consultations free?
Yes. Always. Book online or stop in for a quick chat.

What if I don’t know what color I want?
Perfect. That’s what we’re here for. Book a free color consultation or come in with a few reference points, and your stylist will help guide the decision based on your goals, lifestyle, and hair health.

Can I go from black to blonde in one session?
It depends on your hair type and history—but probably not. We’ll prioritize hair health over speed. Multiple sessions may be needed for major changes.

Do you work with vivid/fantasy colors?
Absolutely. Pinks, purples, neons, iridescents—we do it all. And we know how to make it last.

Do you offer color correction / color overhaul?
Yes! Come in for a FREE consultation so our color experts can assess whether it’s a correction, a refresh, or a full transformation. We’ll review the history and condition of your hair, talk through the change you’re looking for, and create a plan to get you there. From there, we’ll provide a custom recommendation and estimate to help you achieve your hair goals.

Is Bishops gender-inclusive?
Always. We were one of the first salon brands to lead the charge in non-gendered pricing and inclusive service training. You belong here.

Do you offer wheelchair-accessible stations?
Most of our shops do. We recommend calling your nearest location to confirm ahead of time so we can reserve the best spot for you.

What’s your cancellation policy?
Each shop manages its own scheduling. As a general rule, we appreciate 24-hour notice when possible. No-shows may be charged a fee.

Do you offer refunds on products?

Unopened products can usually be returned or exchanged within 30 days. Reach out to your local shop for their exact policy.

What if I’m unhappy with my service?
We want you to love your hair. While we do not offer refunds, we do provide a 7-day window for any fixes or color adjustments to make sure you get the look you want. If something isn’t right, reach out to the shop manager within 7 days and we’ll get you rescheduled.
